Hope for Kids Leadership Academy (HFKLA)

The Hope for Kids Leadership Academy (HFKLA) is a 5 week intensive program where older teens & campus students learn to be more like Jesus as they receive invaluable leadership training while serving at Camp Hope for Kids. During the 5 weeks, they participate in radical evangelism, leading bible discussions and bible studies on local campuses, attend a Ministry Training Academy, mentor an at-risk youth and counsel and/or crew for at least one week of camp. HFKLA is a spiritually focused program. There will be times of prayer, bible based devotionals, daily lessons and discipleship groups.  Participants attend worship services with members of the local Church of Christ.

In 2018 the HFKLA will be based at Camp Hope for Kids in Schwenksville, PA. There will be 2 tracks of participants, Track 1 will take place between June 2-July 5 , 2018 and Track 2 will be from July 9-August 11, 2018. The tracks will be 5 weeks in length. During the 5 weeks, each participant will receive training in evangelism, leading bible discussions and bible studies on local campuses, attend a Ministry Training Academy, be a mentor for a child from the inner city of Philadelphia and be a Counselor and/or Crew for at least one week of R camp, Teen Camp, PAC or SWOC.

As a faith-based program, HFKLA is a spiritually focused program. There will be times of prayer, bible based devotionals and lessons and participants will attend worship services with members of the local Church of Christ. To participate in the program, accepted applicants are expected to fundraise $1500 by May 15, 2018 for Track 1 and June 15, 2018 for Track 2.

Dates:

Track 1: June 2 – July 5, 2018

Track 2: July 9 – August 11, 2018

Cost:

$1500

$300 deposit is due when you receive your acceptance (the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable).

Final $1200 is due by May 15, 2018 for Track 1 and June 15, 2018 for Track 2.

The fundraising expectation of $1500 does NOT include airfare; this fee does include all meals, lodging, local transportation, activities etc during your time on HFKLA. The $300 deposit becomes non-refundable at the point of acceptance; should your application be rejected, the deposit will be fully refunded.

Applicant Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years old (by June 1, 2018), must get a favorable recommendation from their local ministry leader and be committed to their local campus ministry, teen ministry and/or congregation to be accepted. Maximum age is 24.

Application Deadlines: To be considered for participation in HFKLA you must submit an application. Applications will be available on December 1, 2017. Application will close when Tracks are full.
