HOPE for Kids - Reflections - Camp miraclesNo one forces these kids to come, but on their own accord they willingly take advantage of the summer camp’s edifying opportunities. Sometimes the buses are too full to accommodate all of them, which illuminate the need even further.

Camp Miracles acted as a means to cleanse me of my egocentrism in an unexpected way... I know these kids benefited so much from the experience.

I cherish the time I spent on Jamaica HYC. Our time was spent bonding with the children in Marigold Children’s Village. I bonded with this one little boy during my time in Kingston. My heart seemed to tear inside me as the tears streamed down my face as I set him in his crib for the last time. To be able to see first hand the needs in the world is sobering.

HOPE for Kids - Reflections - JamesEven though I went to Seattle to change lives, my life was changed dramatically. I made lasting friendships and many special memories that I will never forget such as dancing with the HYC on a Duck tour boat in the middle of street in downtown Seattle. I learned many things about not only the American Indian culture but also about my character. I learned that even though I may not be able to see the need or the difference I am making, it is important to persevere...

Since working here at HOPE worldwide, I’ve realized my own passion. I love working with the kids and have learned what makes them happy and what frustrates them. CAMP MIRACLES gives them an opportunity to experience grass, trees, lakes, hiking, and wonderful friendships. At camp, they meet people from all over the US and from some other countries, too.
